Overview

Eugenia M. Vecchio is a Partner in Stein Adler Dabah & Zelkowitz LLP’s Private Wealth, Trusts and Estates group and practices out of the firm’s Westchester office. Eugenia brings more than 40 years of experience advising high-net-worth individuals, families and closely held business owners on sophisticated estate, tax and wealth planning matters.

Before joining Stein Adler, Eugenia spent more than three decades building and leading Eugenia M. Vecchio & Associates, PLLC, a Westchester-based trusts and estates practice known for highly personal counsel and longstanding client relationships. Many of the families Eugenia advises have relied on her through multiple generations and major life and business transitions.

Eugenia works closely with clients to develop estate plans that reflect not only their financial and tax objectives, but also the people, businesses and legacies behind them. Her practice includes complex estate planning, trust planning, business succession, buy-sell agreements, wealth transfer strategies and related tax planning. She has advised clients with estates ranging from $1 million to well over $100 million, with considerable experience counseling owners of closely held and family businesses.

A hallmark of Eugenia’s practice is the close relationship she develops with her clients. She takes the time to understand the dynamics of a family, the complexities of a business and what a client ultimately wants to accomplish. That perspective allows her to translate sophisticated tax and estate planning concepts into practical strategies that clients can understand and feel confident putting in place.

Eugenia began her career at KPMG Peat Marwick Main in New York, where she worked in the Personal Financial Planning Division and served as Supervising Senior Tax Manager. There, she advised clients on complex estate, business, retirement, insurance, charitable and income tax planning matters. That foundation in tax and financial planning continues to inform the way she approaches her clients’ estate plans today.

A frequent speaker on estate and tax planning, Eugenia has presented extensively to financial institutions, corporations, professional organizations and community groups, including Morgan Stanley, HSBC Bank, Citibank Investment Services, Merrill Lynch, The Bank of New York, PepsiCo Corporation and Guardian Life Insurance Company.

Eugenia’s work has earned her recognition throughout her career for both her legal practice and her leadership in the Westchester business community. She has been recognized as an Attorney with Distinction in Estate and Tax Planning for five consecutive years and has received numerous other honors and nominations, including recognition among New York’s Top Lawyers, Westchester Magazine’s Five Star Award for leading wealth managers and attorneys, an “Above the Bar” nomination among Westchester’s leading trusts and estates attorneys, and nominations from the Westchester Business Journal and Business Council of Westchester recognizing her accomplishments as a woman entrepreneur and business leader. Eugenia has also been nominated for one of the top 100 lawyers in Worth Magazine.

In addition to her legal and tax planning practice, Eugenia served as a freelance tax editor for Matthew Bender & Company, one of the country’s leading legal and technical tax publishers. In that role, she edited the “Community Property” chapter of Matthew Bender’s Federal Tax Service, published in its 1992–1993 edition.

Eugenia earned her J.D. from New England School of Law, where she received the American Jurisprudence Book Award for Property and completed a graduate tax thesis using research privileges granted through Harvard University School of Law. She also completed the Certified Financial Planner graduate program at Pace University’s Lubin Graduate Center. Eugenia earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Mercy University.
