Trusts and Estates Associate (Entry-Level to Mid-Level) – Reports Directly to Chair of Private Wealth Services Group

Our Private Wealth Services practice is committed to offering life-changing, meaningful trusts and estates advice to our clients. As an Associate in our Private Wealth Services group, you will report directly to the Group Chair, allowing for substantial client engagement and valuable on-the-job learning. If you’re a driven and intellectually curious individual with a passion for providing genuine client value, we want you on our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the drafting, reviewing, and implementation of estate plans, wills, trusts, and related documents, primarily for high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Advise clients on issues involving tax law and trusts and estates.
  • Assist in estate and trust administration, including the preparation of probate documents and estate/gift tax returns.
  • Collaborate with senior attorney to develop and refine strategies for optimal client outcomes.
  • Attend and participate in client meetings.
  • Provide clear and concise advice on complex matters, often involving estate, income and gift tax issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on legal issues impacting the Private Wealth Services group and its clients.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (New Jersey and/or Florida a plus).
  • 1-5 years of experience in practicing in trusts and estates.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Genuine interest in trusts and estates with a deep desire to help clients navigate pivotal moments in their lives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.
